Thousands of students, farmers, political leaders, labourers, and academics came together in Lahore to pass a Peoples' Resolution. The event also celebrated the 70th anniversary of the historic Lahore Resolution. Based on almost 90 dialogues across the nation, the Peoples' Resolution 2010 sets the way forward for a new Pakistan. The Islamabad People's assembly with thousands from all over the country that responded to Aman Ittehad's call. The convention Centre has never seen so many people since it was built. It was a historic event and will be shown in Live with Talat in two or three shows that will be telecast from the 29th onwards. Congratulations to everyone!

A Citizens’ Celebration will be held on 22nd March at the Alhamra Cultural Complex in the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the 1940 Resolution, the celebrations will include the adoption of a People's Resolution shaped by the public dialogue from the more than 80 People's Assemblies held across the country. The Resolution will define a vision for the future reflecting people's aspirations for change. It will also reflect and celebrate diversity, bringing peoples and cultures together from across the country.

Peace Week has begun. Candlelit vigils, rallies, and other events have started alongside the series of People’s Assemblies that continue to engage citizens in a public dialogue. As of today more than 50 People’s Assemblies on Peace have taken place across Pakistan. That's over 5000 people across the provinces of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, NWFP and Gilgit Baltistan, taking part in a national dialogue on peace and the future of the country. Plans are underway to organize creative and inspiring events for the Peace Week 16-23 March 2010. These will include candle lit vigils, art exhibitions, cultural events, public rallies, and plays.

47 People’s Assemblies have been held in diverse locations from Karachi to Quetta, Murree to Islamabad and more.  Citizens from a cross section are using these occasions to discuss perceptions on peace and barrier to achieving it. “Peace is the absence of hatred,” said a participant in Abbottabad.
